Belgravia Shopping

Ecclestone Street, Ebury Street, Motcombe Street and Elizabeth Street are the main shopping areas in Belgravia. Motcombe Street, known by the local residents as ‘Belgravia Village’ is home to a variety of shops such as hair and beauty salons, dry cleaners, estate agents and a patisserie. It also boasts a couple of designer shops such as jewellery designer Carolina Bucci and fashion designer Stewart Parvin. There is also a Waitrose at the end of Motcomb Street. Ecclestone Street provides the post office as well as other retail outlets and Ebury Street is home to at least three antique shops and a gallery and fine art dealer. It is Elizabeth Street in Belgravia that boasts the highest number of shops offering a huge variety of delightful and exclusive boutique style outlets.

De Vroomen – 59 Elizabeth Street

Designer Leo de Vroomen opened his elegant boutique in June 2002 providing a setting for his superb collection of jewellery as well as offering a bespoke design service for those that would prefer a more exclusive and personal item. De Vroomen’s style has gained an international reputation by having twice been awarded the coveted De Beers Diamonds International Award. He also holds the 2001 Award for Best in Design, Haute Couture, considered the ‘Oscar’ of the jewellery industry. In 1991, the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths presented an exhibition of De Vroomen’s iconic collection in London’s prestigious Goldsmith’s Hall, the ultimate accolade for his pursuit of the highest standards in craftsmanship and design.

Mungo and Maud – 79 Elizabeth Street

This boutique, described as a cat and dog outfitters, opened in May 2005. Owners, husband and wife Michael and Nicola Sacher came up with the cutting edge idea of offering owners elegant, well designed cat and dog accessories which at the same time complement the contemporary home. Minimalistic and yet tactile products are designed with style in mind with a strong bias towards the use of natural materials such as cotton, wool, leather and linen. The range includes hand-stitched leather collars and leads, wooden feeding bowls and cotton beds and blankets. The boutique holds a fine selection of cashmere and merino wool pullovers for dogs as well as a number of quilted coats in a variety of colours. There is even a fine leather and suede pet passport holder available in colours prune and rose. The majority of products are exclusive to Mungo and Maud in the UK and can also be found at Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason and Lane Crawford.

Henry Stokes & Company – Elizabeth Street

Stationers have been on site here since 1861 and still combining today quality and service paramount to a long established business. As well as stocking stationery ranges from Crane boxed sets to Conqueror envelopes, Henry Stokes, boasting a decade of specialist book buying experience, concentrates mainly on a carefully chosen selection of newly published titles in biography and fiction. As well as a good selection of basic stationery needs including pens, files and desk accessories, the shop also holds a wide choice of imaginative presents for all ages along with a new and expanded range of gadgets, diaries, notebooks and games. A personal shopping service has now been made available and all presents purchased in the shop can be gift-wrapped as well as dispatched.

A family run perfumery founded in 1984 by Betty and Michael Hawksley, Les Senteurs offers a personal service as well as expert and impartial advice in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere. With a passion for exclusive and exquisite scents Les Senteurs provide an unrivalled collection of perfume classics produced by traditional French and Italian perfume houses, the majority of which tend to use higher concentrations of natural essences as well as first class quality ingredients. The shop now stocks a complete range of famous brands such as Annick Goutal, Creed and Diptyque, in fact the very first shop in the UK to do so. Today, Les Senteurs is considered to be a Mecca for the perfume connoisseur and by way of their mail order and internet service are now able to offer their unique services to scent enthusiasts throughout the world.

TomTom – 63 Elizabeth Street

Founded in 1997, Tomtom Cigars is now one of London’s leading cigar merchants having received a number of prestigious awards including ‘Cigar Retailer of the Year’ at the Millennium Cigars awards held in London. Proprietor Tom Assheton has also received the much coveted ‘Silver Chaveta’ trophy given annually by Havana importers, Hunters and Frankau for his outstanding contributions to the cigar trade. TomTom stock all the usual Havanas as well as a good selection of the less available brands along with a fabulous range of cigar boxes. There is also a wide selection of accessories with names such as Elie Bleu, Davidoff, Dupont, Dunhill and St Hilaire.
