The Halkin – 5 Halkin Street
Sister hotel to the Metropolitan on Park Lane, and both owned by billionaire Singaporean Christina Ong, the five star Halkin nestles in a discreet and secluded location near to Hyde Park Corner. The hotel’s traditional Georgian-style façade belies the modern Italian design of its interior. The cool, cotemporary chic decor co-ordinates beautifully with the fully functional high-tech, state-of-the-art services provided. Polished marble floors and a striking mural by the artist Valentino Vago greet guests in the lobby with each floor of rooms and suites inspired colour-wise by the elements of fire, water, air and earth. Each of the 41 guest rooms are furnished to superb and elegant standards featuring soft furnishings of silks, linens and wools in cool under-stated taupes and creams as well as boasting some of the largest bathrooms in London. Amenities include, 100% Egyptian cotton linen with fine goose down duvets and pillows, individually controlled air conditioning, sophisticated lighting systems, interactive TV along with complimentary high-speed internet access, private fax/printer with designated number and CD/DVD jukebox. The Halkin’s restaurant Nahm opened in July 2001 in the very capable hands of famous Australian chef David Thompson. Serving avant-garde Thai cuisine it now boasts a Michelin star, the only Thai restaurant in Europe to do so.
The Berkeley – Wilton Place
